Ya’ll know how much I love the hands free ease of a good fanny pack, but lately I’ve been wishing for a bigger bag. I bought a little hand fan to create a personal breeze during our latest heatwave, but it doesn’t fit in my fanny pack. I also have to carry a tote bag everywhere if I want to bring my kindle or a notebook or pretty much anything that isn’t small whenever I go on adventures.
Yesterday my mission was to go to a yarn store (more on that in a minute) and get a new bag. There are tons of bag shops all over where you can get fake designer bags, but none of those were speaking my language.

So I headed over to the alley in Chania with a whole bunch of leather shops and left with this beauty! It’s honestly a little bigger than I wanted, but this model has a divider with a zipper, so three big sections! A big purse needs to be organized, so this was the winner. It was handmade here on the island with leather from a cow who lived on this island. It’s well made, sturdy, beautiful, smells amazing, and it made me feel good to know that I was supporting local for the whole process.

As most of you know, my favorite way to fill a day is by creating things. As my sewing machines are still on a boat (Now in Southhampton, getting closer!), I needed a hand job to stop myself from playing too much Royal Match on my phone. Don’t be a pervert, you know I meant something constructive to do with my hands!
I went to a lovely little luxury yarn shop in Chania and picked out these babies to try my hand at crocheting a bag. I haven’t crocheted in years, but I am so excited to have a project. I spent a good 45 minutes in the shop chatting with the owner and picking colors. It felt so great to be buying craft supplies. I was giddy with the thrill of creation! I only had time to wind balls and reacquaint myself with the magic ring before bed last night, but it’s a start!

I also made a stop at my favorite penis postcard shop. It’s the only place that has them, so some of you are going to be lucky and receive a most treasured dick postcard in the near future. I did not buy this penis booze, and Felix was disappointed that I was able to resist when I showed him this picture later.

One of our favorite drinks around here is the freddo cappuccino, which has this delightful foamy milk on top. The milk is kind of hard to mix with the coffee though, so I tried my hand at making my own. It’s a bit of a Frankenstein’s monster of coffee bevs as I’ve mixed the methods for making a frappe (instant coffee) and did not froth the milk quite as much because I wanted it to actually mix. My new immersion blender/mini food processor came with a frothing attachment, and I was excited to try it out. It turned out so good!
If you want to make your own, here’s what I did:
- Mix equal parts instant coffee and sugar if you want it sweet! I did approximately two teaspoons of each.
- Add enough water to cover, plus about a tablespoon extra.
- Froth that shit. Froth it so good!
- Pour over ice.
- Froth some milk, and dump it on top!
Easy peasy, and a delightful afternoon treat when you’re trying to pull an all dayer. That’s what I call it when I don’t take a nap. I did it twice this week and am available to pose for a statue at any time.
I haven’t said much this week because it has not necessarily been the best week ever for me. Our beautiful home in Colorado has been on the market since April, and our second round of buyers decided to back out this week. I may or may not have been simultaneously suffering from extreme hormones as well, so I’ve been feeling pretty defeated about it. There are a lot of things we’d like to do around here to make our lives better/more comfortable, but we need to wait for that sale to complete before we can afford to do them. I decided I needed some days to not think about it, so we’re discussing next steps on Monday. I have been seriously considering the possibility that someone put a curse on me or the house. If so, could you please remove it? I’m sorry if I have wronged you. I didn’t mean to, and I will do my best to right my wrongs.
This morning my husband spent quite a bit of time helping me figure out how to watch the Olympics, so I’ve been wasting my life crocheting, ogling male swimmers (good glob, those are some sleek, sculpted men!), and petting my dog. I got a message in the middle of the night that one of my good friends lost his best boy yesterday, so I also had a good cry about Chunk.

Chunk was everybody’s best friend, and we had to let him go in January. My heart hurts for my friend.
I think I’m going to go take a nap. No all dayer for me today! And then see if anyone is up for an adventure. I haven’t been to the beach in a minute, and I’d love to go my buns wet. I hope you’re all having a most delightful σαββατοκύριακο, which is Greek for weekend and literally translates to “Saturday Sunday.” It was my first favorite Greek word. It’s so cute!
