It was bound to happen, and it finally did! Dumpster kitten kidnap attempts did not pan out, but a lovely lady in Chania had a whole herd of rescue kittens she was fostering that needed homes!

After spending a good hour and a half chatting (she got her masters degree in Boulder, so we’re old Colorado friends who never met there!), she deemed us worthy of taking one of her babies home.

Felix has an orange cat in Minecraft named Conglomerate, so he decided that is this guy’s name as well. I’ve been calling him Cong or King Cong for short. He’s around four months old, and is so sweet and so sassy.

We are all pretty much obsessed with him, even if he enjoys attacking feet in the middle of the night and has the stinkiest poops ever. Bowie lets him snuggle her from behind for a minute before she remembers that she’s disgusted by his presence and hisses at him half heartedly.

BMO is a definite work in progress. Cong is scared of him, which activates BMO’s prey drive, so we’re not anywhere near the point of having them be alone together. But I know they’ll eventually be good snuggle buddies, even if BMO is confused about no longer being the baby of the family. It’s time for him to start acting like a man. Haha!

In other news, my heart is absolutely broken over the loss of my Grandma’s special friend Joe.

I’m going to copy what I wrote in a facebook post about him here:
When my Grandma Donna first introduced me to Joe, it only took a second for him to become a friend and a minute for me to love him. He was quick with a laugh and always had the most genuine, heartfelt compliments. I really saw Grandma come out of her shell in his presence. She suddenly seemed so free and happy, and I’m so grateful for the impact he had on her life.
They came down to Denver fairly frequently for health tests, and we had the pleasure of hosting them at our house (except during the worst of the pandemic, when we would meet them at a park to catch up outdoors!). It was an absolute joy to spend hours with him at our kitchen table, talking about current events and laughing at our animals. The dogs liked to show off their sexual prowess on their beds, and Joe laughed so hard he cried when I described the cat cleaning her privates as “licking her downtown”. Chunk absolutely adored him, and any friend of Chunk is a friend of mine.
Joe was insightful, silly, fun, and a cheek kisser. I didn’t know him long in the grand scheme of things, but I loved him so much and I will miss him forever. Thank you Joe for loving my grandma and loving me too.

Rest in peace, Joe.
